if you live in a place like this http://www.abc.net.au...3/r346606_1583090.jpg yes I'd say you are

here http://irelandposters...lin_mansion_house.jpg probably a bargain
I've never bothered with it. Fortunately, I've never been burgled or accidently damaged anything.

Do you really need it - have you ever needed to claim?
Is this just contents. I was being overcharged by TSB. £112.00 per year. Now £68 with Rias.
I pay £68.64 per annum to Axia for house contents Insurance on a £12,000 valuation.
The amount you pay will be based on the value of your possessions and personal things.
What is the max value of your claim ?
Hmm - how long is a piece of string ?
twice as long as it is from middle to end woozer. I pay £12.00 a month.
£12000 valuation seems low for contents. When you add up all carpets, furniture, equipment, washers, microwave, crockery, jewellery, clothers, CDs, laptops etc most households need at least £30000 of cover.
If your cover is for £15000 say and your contents are worth £30000 then the insurer is entitled to pay only 50% of any claim. Even if you claim for only £1000 they will only pay £500
It all depends on things like the following -

- Your claims history
- Your Postcode
- Whats included in your cover - e.g extended accidental damage , cover for personal possesions away from home , cover for individual item over a certain value etc etc

Without knowing these details , it's impossible to say if it is likely your'e paying too much
You've not stated, Hope19, where you're living. The same policy in, say, certain areas of Liverpool or South London can cost as much as 4 or 5 times what it does in some other areas of the country.

However, as others have indirectly indicated, a visit to one (or preferably several) of the price comparison websites might well see you finding a lower premium.

Chris
I am with Rias to at £58 a year with £50,000 valuation but I haven't got that much.
Presumably you've got £50ks worth, or you're wasting money.
