i helped a mate out while i was between cars and insured myself on his van as the sole driver using my 3 years no claims. since then, we parted ways and when i went to ask the company (protectagroup) for proof of my no claims to put on my car with a different insurance company, they told me that i no longer had any no claims as it had been transferred to my ex mates company policy, and i would no longer even show up on their records.
i would greatly appreciate any advice, as i am now paying double insurance what i would have to on my car. and to all intents and purposed have lost my 3 years no claims.

Sorry, I'm puzzled. Did you take out a policy in your name to drive the mate's van? And did you cancel it when you 'parted' or did you let the policy continue. And did he also have his own insurance ? .

well this is where it gets confusing, he needed a driver for his van, so i went with him and although the ven was pit in his name under his business i was put as the sole driver and used my no claims to reduce the cost.
when we parted ways i went to them and said i wanted to transfer my no clains and they told me it would cost 125 to do it, but they also told me i couldnt cancel it as my mate had the ins documents.
when i went in a week later thay then told me the policy had been changerd to another person, my name wasnt even listed and the no-claims no longer belonged to me.
hope that makes it clearer i still dont understand it.
always thught that ncb , always stayed with the "policy holder 2 which was u not you mate ...... this may not mean anything now , but it sounds like you had a commercial policy , and hid va was not in your name , during the time , you was the "policy holder " .......
