My husband had his van stolen four weeks ago.. on the morning he spoke to loss adjuster about his calim he had a call from police 400 miles away stating they had found his van. Apparently it has been semi professionally ringed? and sold three times in the period it has been missing.
Does he have to take the van back? He is worried about the state it is in if ringed..The insurance company have not made an offer yet... claim ongoing untilk today when van found? They want him to pick the van up from london ...we live inYorkshire... he is unsure if it is even roadworthy???
We really do not want the van back after all this..

Inform your insurers - they can arrange to have the van collected and inspected by an engineer. Unfortunately, if the van is ok and returned to you then it wil still count as a claim under your policy. You can tell them that you would prefer not to have the van back, but they will ultimately decide based on the economics of the claim.

Many thanks....

The van has apperently been ringed and sold three times....Surely if we did take it back it would dramatically reduce its value when we decide to sell it on... It will somewhere been have recorded as stolen and found .. does this info show up if a futuere buyer HPI's it??

The insurance company are saying it is up to us to collect the van from London, but the police will not release yet,, investigations ongoing to find the culprit... and 5 weeks on we are still without transport... this is my husbands business van and it is having a detrimental effect on us financially.. The insurance company said they would take a claim after three weeks... how long are we expected to wait... we have never had a vehicle stolen before so are fighting in the dark... unsure of what we can do. unfortunately we are not covered for a hire vehicle.
