I used to have travel insurance with my bank when you had to keep a certain amount in credit but now they have changed it to a monthly fee which covers a lot of things I don't need so I have changed the account. Now, the point is, does anyone know where I can get holiday insurance which would just cover me for the UK. I never go abroad anymore, just basically do a lot of coach trips in this country

I really wouldn't bother, Kustard. My home insurance covers lost property outside the home; no need to worry about medical fees within the UK; if you travel with a reputable company like Shearings you are guaranteed all your money back if the holiday is cancelled.

Is there something in particular you want to insure against?

Thanks for that Barry. Can always rely on you to be sensible. Surprised I haven’t got a lot of rubbish like when I couldn’t get on AB (AB never did reply by the way). I’m not really bothered about medical expenses or cancellation just my luggage really which I will check on my home insurance. The problem is you have to fib to a lot of coach firms and some won’t take you if you don’t give them proof. They all offer their own which is a rip off. Surely if something drastic happened they MUST have their own cover
I am struggling to think of any eventuality where the tour company would not be liable.
If you became ill or had an accident that was not caused by the company is the biggie. You might have to pay to make your own way home.
If the company lost or damaged your luggage they would be liable. If you lost anything whilst out and about on your own, they wouldn't be unless you were specifically told to leave your possessions on the coach or in the hotel, for example.

If you do want travel insurance use all the comparison sites to find the cheapest that covers your needs and check out the Money Saving Expert website.

Think about the worst possible scenario and how you would deal with it. Discharged from a hospital as far away from home as possible with two broken legs and a load of luggage. Would family collect you or would you have to make your own way home?

If you lost all your luggage I doubt any insurance company would pay out before you got home so I wouldn't stress about that.

Oh well not to worry Barry. I do have people who would bring me home and suchlike but I will look at some sites as you suggested. All the scenarios you suggested have made me feel really cheerful LOL but I will survive!!!!
You certainly will, with or without insurance
I don't know how old you are (you're what? I don't believe it!) or if you've got medical conditions so check out the links here relevant to you - under 65 or over 65. You can get annual multi trip insurance quite cheaply https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/uk-travel-insurance/
I wouldn't bother with travel insurance if I was in your situation.

However, if you still want to investigate possibilities, take a look at TravelSafe. They're cheap as chips, with policies which cover UK travel as long as it's not for less than 3 days. (So you wouldn't be covered for a trip to the shops or a short weekend break but you'd be covered for 'proper' holidays):

^^^ PS: My link there didn't come about just through a bit of random googling.

It's a company that I've used several times myself, having initially been pointed towards it by the Money Saving Expert website.

Thanks to you both. Your site looked really interesting BC but I couldn't get it to work. I registered, they sent me a confirmation email (I did this three times) then the form they sent would not fill in. Your site didn't give me any options that I wanted Barry, just kept telling me what I should get cover for and assumed I was going abroad. Think I'll give up and risk it without!!!
