I remember he was the morning DJ who announced the news to me (I was a student at the time) that John Lennon had been shot. Do you remember where you were when hearing the news about the death of John Lennon ?

No, but I remember where I was when I heard about JFK.
No for some reason I don't. I do remember where I was when I heard about Elvis though.

I most certainly do.
I remember about JFK too - it was announced in very sombre tones on the BBC Home Service.
Nobut I can rember where I was when Jim Reeves;Elvis ; Bobby Kennady and Princess Diana died
Yes,
I was walking across a British Telecom yard, and a chap called Dave came towards me, weeping, and said Lennon was dead. He went home sick. strange thing was, He was only 18 years old, so not really brought up with the beatles.
I was upset, because i realised lennon was a nice bloke really, and His music had shaped the world.
Yes. I remember it vividly. I was a student too. It was a newsreader on Radio 1 and his exact words were "And the shock news this morning is that John Lennon has been shot dead in New York". My Mum had just brought me a cup of tea in bed and I told her and she went scuttling off to my sister`s bedroom to impart the news. Flippantly, I deliberately missed the bus to college that morning because I fancied the driver and knew which bus he would be driving. The Dakota Building is on my
I remember where I was when I heard John Lennon had been shot. I was on a coach trip and it came over the radio. I remember being absolutely stunned.
Don`t know what happened there. The Dakota Building is on my "to do" list next time in NY as I`ve never been there.
I'm sorry I'll type that again

I was working for the House of Fraser in Cardiff and had just found out I was expecting my first baby. My husband was a fan of Wings and had all their albums but he had never really bothered about Lennon. Oddly enough, my eldest son has been a huge Beatles fan and particularly a Lennon fan since the age of 11.

JFK was just before my time ! Can't remember Elvis death. Strange that the John Lennon moment have never forgotten !
No I don't remember anything about it, I think it was because Yoko Ono got on my nerves and I went off him.
Wasn`t his song "Woman" in the charts at the time and it went to no 1 after his death? I seem to remember that.

Hi Dotty ! I had most of the Beatles albums on vinyl but my son (now 24) had downloaded the entire collection ! They say every generation rediscovers The Beatles but i don't expect that to last for much longer !

237sj. I think you're right ! There was an album with a black and white photo on the cover of him and Yoko. Double fantasy ?
banksman - have you seen the film Nowhere Boy? It`s about John Lennon`s early life. It`s worth a look.

237SJ - Who played the part of Lennon in that ? Think I saw a trailer for it ?
Not sure banksman but Kristin Scott Thomas played his Aunt Mim (who brought him up) He had a quite sad upbringing due to his broken home and I can see (from the film) how that shaped his personality.
