Does a 10% increase (or under) in BHP count as an insurance modification. EG if I have my car remapped but only by a small amount (e.g not for performance but for economy) does this count as a mod where the insurance company needs to be informed?

I suggest you tell them just in case.
I would say yes, because it's not standard kit.
As factor30 says contact your Insurers for a definitive reply.
Strictly speaking, yes and not telling them could invalidate your policy if it's discovered.

though it's virtually impossible to tell if a car has had a remap and I'm sure loads of people have bought cars with remaps and not realised so their insurance companies have never been told.
Im with chuck on that, whos going to know...never in all my years in the insurance body repair trade have i ever known an engineer or police examiner for that matter check the ECU on a vehicle.
