Did any of you have to sing to Mr Appleby on the radio at school for music lessons. The teacher would turn the radio on at 11am and we had song sheets and sing, Greensleeves and Nymphs and Shepherds, the teacher would watch us and keep control! This would be in the 1950's.

Wasn't it awful.. I feel better now that you also had to do it!
another memory for me was appearing at the City Hall as Principle Boy, I was about 14 at the time, it was a pantomime from our local church and we made it to the 'big' stage
Yes I did as well, and what is more, I can remember the words to Nymphs and Shepherds - how sad is that
I remember a classic from the 60's school singing programmes entitled "Calling all Zartians". What a belter that was, someone should bring it out as a single.
I don't think Singing Together was that bad -- better than "sums" anyway, even if to us boys some of the songs were definitely on the soppy side! The last song in the book always seemed to be a good one to shout along to, though: Bonny Was a Warrior (way-ay-oh), or Michael Finnegan (he grew whiskers on his chinnegan) .

The spookiest part was how Mr Appleby could obviously HEAR you through the school radio. He was always saying things like "Now THAT wasn't very good, was it? Let's try it again, and this time let's open our mouths really wide..."
