When I scan something on my HP scanner it sometimes comes out enormous ie only a part of the document is scanned and blown up, sometimes it doesn't do this and I get the full page A4 paper scanned. How does it do this? What do I need to do to scan what I put in the printer?

Which model is it and what do the instructions say?
Have you got 'fit to page' or dotted edge with arrows to adjust size.

Model is HP PSC 1510 it prints, copies and scans. The instruction book only gives two pages on the scanning.
tambrine; where would I have 'fit to page' written?
Either on print or view print. My pc wont download this but maybe you can

you need to install the HP Manager software that came with the unit, then when you scan you get a picture on your pc screen with the full page and a drag box to decide what you want to scan - full document or a section. If you let it do it automatically it may well just choose the part of the page with the most text - I use a HP all in one every day.
Side note: It makes it even easier if you've Adobe Acrobat installed too and scan to PDF.

Thank you whickerman and tamborine will look into that. I do have HP Manager installed. This has only come about since it came back from the computer doctor's!
