My Daughter has bought a house in Southern Cyprus and I would like to give her a personal DVD Player for Christmas

Yes and they have 3 pin plug sockets like we do :-)
this Wikipedia map indicates that it should be ok http://en.wikipedia.o...egions_with_key-2.svg
She might need to change PAL switch.
if you mean personal DVD player as in one with a built in screen it will work anywhere in the world!

If you meant to ask "will it work with DVD's purchased in cyprus" then yes it will, they are the same DVD region as the UK.

Thank you everybody who answered.
The DVD player I have in mind is the little player with a 7-9" screen where you just stick a dvd on , plug it in and hey presto, you can watch a film
Now Jaydah mentions a PAL switch and I have no idea what that is!! Nor will my daughter. - Does that come on a DVD player??
Maybe I have to stick to a CD player - mightyWBA informs me that they have 3 pin plugs, so there should be no difficulty having just the music.- or am I assuming wrong??
Ignore PAL switch - it only matters if you're plugging into a TV set - if the player has its own screen, it'll work.
Plugs in Cyprus are identical to ours (UK).
