Does anybody know how i fit a male and female adapter onto either end of a coaxial cable ie. which part of the cable plastic i need to strip etc???

The central wire carries the signal and is insulated from the braided shield that prevents radio leakage. Just make sure that they don't touch. Connect centre to centre, outer to outer.
