Society is an abstract concept, you learn it as you go, you cant teach it to anybody just like that.

Society works because most people obey societies "rules" most of the time, but there are thousands of rules that we learn as we grow up.

Societies rules cover things such as you dont walk around naked, you dont wee in the street, you dont spit on the floor, you dont drop litter, you queue up for things if others are waiting, you dont just steal things in shops you have to pay for them, you are polite to people when they talk to you, and so on and so on.

There are thousands and thousands of these "rules" that you learn as you grow up, and when most people obey them then that is society.

But when there is a war, or perhaps an earthquake like in Haiti, society breaks down and lots of these rules are broken (partly to survive).
Life can be defined as such:

You spend your first 15 years trying to make it go faster, then next 50 trying to slow it down, the next 20 or so giving up caring, then you die.
