I heard FireFox was good to have so downloaded it but know nothing about it. How does it make my computer safer? When i go on the internet should I be clicking on that icon instead of internet explorer? Thanks in advance.

it only makes your pc safer inso far as it'snot Microsoft - where most hackers target.
Yes - use this insteadof Internet Explorer. Much better, with the personal bar etc.
Can be used with Moz. Thunderbird as an email client which again avoids MS

And yes, you should certainly be clicking on the Firefox icon instead of IE. No point in having Firefox and not using it!
