Does anyone know how to cover water stains which are on ceilings.  I have painted over them numerous times, but they are still highly visible.

Your best bet is to buy some UNIBOND PVA, mix it 5 to 1 (5 parts water to 1 part Unibond), then apply with a brush over the affected area, say 4 or 5 times, (allowing each application to dry) before painting.

Alternatively, try some fungicidal sealer - available from most DIY stores (most common make is Sandtex)
