I have (again) been approached by a company wishing to update a sat. dish to run a sky plus box seving 20 flats.
They installed the original system some 5 years ago and now advise me a 2nd cable is now needed to upgrade the head end(power) The company state a second cable is required for the sky plus box to work to its full capabilities.
Whats this all about in simple terms please?

It's OK, they're not conning you!

Sky Plus boxes have two independent tuners, each of which requires a completely separate feed from the satellite dish. So a fresh LNB (the 'sticking out bit' on the dish) is required, together with a second cable to carry the extra signal.
