well, yes, it may seem wierd, but look at it from a mum's point of view, well, look at it from the mum of our friend D. he died in a bike accident in august 2007. he was unmarried, never had any children, there is no grandchild to be proud of, no hope of the name carrying on. I actually think that without the sensationalising of the story, it is an intensly profound concept, making the future more optimistic and bringoing comfort to a bereaved parent. God if i lost any of mine what comfort would i find in a grnadchild. the one i have is so important to us, so precious, i actually can totally relate to this idea. `

Look we all know I can't spell but it is weird ......

How can he be a father if he is dead she is more crazzzzzzzzyyyyyyyy than me
Not only weird, it's sick. Supposing a surrogate could be found to accept a dead man's sperm with a view to producing a child. Who on earth would bring up the child, the man was an adult, and therefore his mother could be of an age which would not be suitable. I hope she does not succeed in finding anyone to retrieve sperm from the son who is being kept alive artificially for the purpose. I also think the judge in question made a very bad decision.
As for the mother, she should let the young man be released from this horrendous situation, and to rest in peace. What the mother is trying to do is a complete violation of motherly love. It is entirely different to the recent cases where a husband has died in an accident, and where he and his wife had agreed that they intended to have a child. The world has gone mad.

Although the judge has agreed this can happen - but it had to be within 24 hours - there had been no doctor willing to harvest the sperm.

The 24 hours is over now and I can't find a follow up to it
lol @ no-knowledge!
cathy don't worry - no-one is crazier than you....
My reservation is ...

The mum is doing it to make herself feel better. She can pat herself on the back and say "Hey, aren't I great ... I gave my son what he wanted".

She is the only person who really benefits.

It seems a bit selfish.
