 I own a freelander and I want to drive it abroad and I want to know do I have to convert the headlights for continental driving

Yes you do.  If you don't know already, UK headlights are designed to deflect the light towards the left, which shines towards oncoming traffic in right-hand drive countries.  You can buy headlight stickers in Halfords or similar car shops.  The last time I took a car ferry, they sold them at the port.
