Hi, i have a goodmans lcd telly and wanted to plug it through my rather old midi system to get better sound quality.

the midi has one white and one red aux input. My telly has the usual stuff on the back. 2 red and 2 white holes and a yellow one. i did use that for my ps3 before i got hdmi cable. It also has 5 other holes which i take is for surround sound. these are 2 green 2 red 2 white.

I have tried a few combos but get nothing, ha ha.

Any ideas and would i need to change anything in my tv menu/settings.

Cheers.

If your tv has a 3.5mm headphone jack socket you can get a lead to connect to your midi system with the 3.5mm jack on one end which you put into the tv socket and one red and one white phono jack on the other which you plug into your midi aux inputs. A similar set up works on mine very well and the lead isn't expensive. Hope this is of some use.

Lol, no problem, will have to look into that if there is no other way.

First check to see if your stereo is setup to process a signal through the inputs you are using. You can plug the other end of the cable your using into a known working programme source for this purpose. Alternatively touching the pin on the end of the cable should produce a hum or buzz from your speakers.

Don't turn the stereo volume up any more than necessary while testing!

Once the stereo checks out you should have less difficulty locating a signal source from the tv. The red and white holes further away from the yellow are most likely the right and left audio outputs.
