I've just been given a Garmin 250 Sat Nav and would like to register it. I've been to the website and signed up with a username and password; I've downloaded the relevant gubbins for the registration .... now it says: "connect your device to the computer." How? There seems to be no wire to link computer with device and there is no hint on the website where such a wire might go even if there were one.
Any help from eperienced Garmin users would be gratefully received.

I got a USB cable with mine so I could update the maps, upload photos etc. Perhaps yours is missing? If so can you get the person who gave it to you to give you the receipt and get it exchanged? Alternatively ring the Garmin helpline. I did that when I thought I had a bit missing from mine (I didn't, it was in the box) and they were amazingly helpful and sent me out the bit free of charge.
you definitely should have a USB connection, or you'll never be able to update the satnav.
If you can't get one from Garmin themselves, then wander down to your nearest Maplins (my favourite store hehe) and buy a cable (only about 8). It's probably got a USB A (male) connection on one end and a USB Mini 5 pin (male) at the other end. The USB A goes into one of the USB ports on your computer and the USB mini 5 pin goes into the Garmin. Remember to take your Garmin with you to make sure you get the right cable and ask one of the helpful staff to check if you're not sure.
