television v sky box

when I turned the TV of last night it gave a sort of muffled bang it was not an explosion type bang and its only 12 years old.
Its still working and gets a bit hot but now the sky box has a red light on it and wont go to green. the Sky Box is only about 6 years old I have tried switching it off at the socket for 15 mins and then started it again which I have done before
has anyone got an idea the box has a scart lead on it.
I also have a video machine but I dont use that anymore.

If your sky box wont go green then it's the box that's gone up the swanny...

Maybe possible to re boot it. . Turn off powwr for 1 minute, press back up button keeping finger on it, turn on power and keep finger on button until (if ) 4 lights appear o front of box. It will then be in reboot, takes about 10 mins.Hope this helps
