If you were a suspected terrorist, the CIA (armed with a court order) might be able to physically access Hotmail's servers and (using specialist recovery software) retrieve your deleted mail. (Actually, I suspect that the task might still be beyond the combined efforts of the world's security services).

However, there's absolutely no way that you can remotely access the server to retrieve the mail (if it still exists).

Sorry ;-(

Chris
Yeah, the likelyhood of hotmail's servers having not overwritten where your e-mail was before it was deleted are pretty slim.
Easiest thing is not to delete the messages - chuck them in an 'old mail' folder instead.
Haven't got hotmail, but assume it's got unlimited storage like Yahoo has for the last couple of years
5GB at present, bob, though they're planning to expand it a bit

"We've designed Windows Live Hotmail storage to grow with you, but at a reasonable pace. That means you should have plenty of storage unless you suddenly want to store the planet Jupiter on Hotmail, in which case we'll send you a nice e-mail asking you to please not try to store planets on Windows Live Hotmail (although gradual storage of moons and asteroids is ok)."

Presumably this is in response to googlemail, whose storage space is also not unlimited but increases all the time (counter says mine's up to 7.2GB)
