Hi, have inherited a Toshiba 2173db TV which I am trying to tune into sky on an RF channel. The TV is upstairs and the sky box is downstairs the previous tv worked fine with this set up. The problem here is we do not have the original Toshiba remote and can't access the set up option on the menu, in fact it isn't even an option. We have an all in one remote that they were using to operate the TV. Is there anyway of tuning this? or finding codes for the All in one remote URC3420 that will allow me to access the setup?
Many thanks for any help/suggestions

Hi there curiosity
I have a handbook for a 'one for all kameleon 6 remote' and there are 14 Toshiba codes listed, as follows:
0035
0060
0508
0070
0102
1508
0217
0109
0718
0195
0191
0618
1916
0698
Try them one at a time and see whether your tv responds, ie see if you can put it on stand by. Alternatively you could go to the 'One for All' wesite and see if they have a specific code for your TV model. You should also be able to get the code to tune in your Sky remote to operate it too.

Hope this helps

you will probably need the original remote. how old is the tv?
That said, I have had luck with a remote sold in pound shops , reference 'URC 22B' Or 'AV10'. these have loads of buttons and often one of them will activate the menu. they are far more versatile than the one for all ones, which are usaully only basic.

this site: http://www.cme.it/cme30.php?idm=gb has an online catalogue with search facility with pictures of all the remotes, if you click 'image' in the search box.
(you can put it in english at the top if it isn't already). if you have the manual or the TVs first owners can help you, you can see what the original looks like then search on ebay for a new one.
The tuning on any pretty much any TV can be done using the buttons on the TV itself, It'll be a bit more cumbersome but should be possible without a remote.

Hello, and thanks to everyone ...progress so far ... some of the codes allow basic operation which is obviously the code previously used, some won't allow to switch on. Only 2 of the codes allow the remote to access main menu with a set up option showing, so thats an improvement. The problem is none of the buttons on the remote or the TV will navigate through the menu to choose the set up option. They just turn the channel over if using the remote, or using the Tv ones the set up option disappears from the menu. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the 1 shop remote recommended by romko might be worth a go if it has more buttons! Thanks everyone, very grateful for all help, I'm on a mission to sort this.
