I have dark oak laminate in my flat with different shades of brown on the walls - same/ similar to colours in picture under 'Toning' at attached link http://www.dulux.co.uk/servlet/ColourSchemeHan dler?name=rum_caramel_5

I have a cream sofa. So what colour should I choose for remaining furniture (bookcase, tv stand etc.)? White? Walnut?

Thanks.Rob.

Does the oak floor go with those wall colours?

I have oak floors and I would say that they are more of a yellowish wood and those are quite peachy/pinky colours.

I would get the furniture in a toning shade with the floor, as you are likely to keep the floor longer than the wall colouring. It depends on your style of furniture, but I would tend to go for a lighter shade of oak than the floor - maybe teamed with baskets but in a modern style.

Maybe something like this:

My floors are desribed as 'dark oak' - perhaps not the best description. They look like this:

My living room walls are two shades of brown, dulux rum caramel 5 as per my OP and also:

They do go very well with the floor.

Hope this helps.
