Panasonic Viera TVs and SD card picture display

Hi there

I am sure this is simple, but it's driving me CRAZY

My Panasonic TH-42PX600B TV has an SD card slot on the front, and the instructions say it can display jpeg pictures from the card

Well, I copy some images from my pc onto the card (a 128Mb SanDisk), insert it into the SD slot and hit the "SD" button

The "thumbnails" screen comes up - and all thumbnails are blank

So what's wrong?

In the instructions, it says "CAUTION: A jpeg image modified on a pc cannot be displayed" - but why not, what is it expecting?

I'd be grateful if someone could help me out here

Thanks

What have you saved the jpegs as? Are they still jpeg?

My photos display ok on my tv

Hi Ethel

They're jpgs (which are just jpegs by another name)

I've tried a couple of other things

1. Took some photos on my digotal camera (which uses xD cards) and copied direct from the xD to the SD. No luck

2. Took some photos on my Canon camcorder direct to the SD card. These view fine

SO, it's either an issue with resolution, but the TV instructions asy it can go to 5120 x 3840 - I am nowhere near that

OR

The files need to be in a specific location for the TV to find them (which sounds unlikely)

So I am still a tad stumped
Just looked at the manual (I have the same tv)

Only .jpg can be displayed
The card may be become unusable with the tv if the file or folder names are changed

This may be the most relevant (But I can't explain it!)

Images imported from a PC must be compatible iw EXI 2.0 2.1 and 2.2

All the images I am trying to view have the same exif version (2.2)

and I reformatted the card on the TV before I started

I think I'll drop Panasonic a line

IN case anyone else finds this threadm I have sussed it and I was right - it IS stupid <grrr>

The TV insists that the memory card and files have EXACTLY the names as if they'd come from a camera

SO,

I have to have a DCIM folder, containing a nnn_CANON folder which contains images all called IMG_nnnn

That works just fine

I just wish it wasn't so picky - what's so hard about displaying ALL jpeg files off the card

Stupid TV
