Cats scratching furniture

Hi All Does anyone know any particular sprays or scents that cat's dislike? I have been buying a new sofa but my cat insists on sinking her claws into it. She hasnt scratched ( as each time i have shoo-ed her away) but i want something that will make her not even want to approach the sofa. Any idea's folks ?

They dont like citrus smells.

They really don't like eucalyptus smells. Our tv cabinet was getting gnawed on ,on a regular basis,but,when I put olbas oil on the corners,they actually backed away from it !
