Last night my TV gave up the ghost after many years of service. I'm currently using my portable until a flatscreen LCD can be bought. Is it possible to receive the freeview channels just using the I/P aerial connection to freebox and RF output connection to the TV? There's no SCART plug connection on the portable TV. I've tried this method with no joy. Just wondered if the SCART connection was critical.

I think you can use the RF Modulator. But some boxes require you to put a channel number in the tv for the signal to go through. Its usually a higher up channel number, and should be in the user guide.
No it shouldn't be, if your scart socket is still plugged into you freeview box then I think that overides the ariel conection.
The one the poster is talking about doesnt have a scart
depends on the freeview box, simply pass the RF signal straight through so you can still watch normal TV on your Television some add the freeview channels so you can tune another spare TV channel on your television and watch freeview via RF just like an old video recorder.

Best bet is to hit the program guide button on your freeview and try tuning a spare channel on the TV from on end to another and see if you can find the program guide
merlinius,s portable doesn't have a scart, the box does i'm simply suggesting if the scart is still plugged into the box then it stil tries that connection first.
^^ *some simply pass...*

Tried AE I/P to freeview box, RF O/P from freeview box to TV. Selected spare channel on TV and manually tuned from one end to the other - no freeview!
Tried AE I/P to freeview box, RF output to video recorder IP, output video recorder to TV together with SCART connection from video recorder to freeview box. Tuned TV to video recorder channel and manually tuned video recorder from one end to the other - no freeview! :(
if you take the scart out from the freeview box into the video scart and put the video on the AV channel it should work
agree.

Cheers guys, that certainly did the trick! Didn't seem to matter whether the SCART plug remained in position or not.
