Gas Hob

I have a Baumatic Gas hob. In order ignite the flame I have to press the control knob and turn the gas on so that an electrical spark will ignite the gas. For the last weeks electrical sparks ( on all five burners) are just happening on their own and staying on all the time inspite of the control knobs been closed and without touching the burner at all. What should I do to restore them to their original situation?

You could try removing the control knobs by gently pulling them off then give it a good clean around the gas valves and surrounding area as the ignition may be stuck on due to a spillage or grease etc...Make sure you have turned off the electricity first though. If this does not work then there is little else you can do except to call out a CORGI registered engineer to sort it out for you.
My hob does the same thing esp if the wife uses too much water or cleaner near the gas knobs...
i suggest either a sticking ignition button if you have one or a sticking ignition microswitch depending on what type of ignition your hob has.
