i just opend up an old radio and inside was a mouldy cassette how did it get mouldy?

Moulds can grow on almost anything, using whatever is there as food. Spores are always all around us, so it's no surprise that you found mould. It may have fed on the surface grease or cellulose on the tape.
Condensation from temperature changes might have gathered on the tape and the mould probably grew from that
