I am about to put up a splashback in out kitchen to match the work surfaces. I do not have a problem with doing this - except that there are two awkward shaped items that will stop the splashback from being placed directly on the wall. What is the best way to cut out around these items ensuring a close a fit as possible - and a straight fit on the wall. The splashback is made of plywood about 5mm thick.

Any help is appreciated

The best thing to cut the plywood splashback is a jigsaw. I have had similar problems when laying laminate floors around bathroom fittings.

To get a pattern for the location of the wall obstacles that you need to cut out of the splashback, carefully use a paper or thin card sheet. Be careful when you put this on the splashback so that you don't cut it wrong way round!

How are you fitting it ti the wall? I've found no nails glue brilliant.
