have some old (1940s) photos & would like to enlarge them on my PC , only they are very dirty . Can anyone tell me how to clean them up before scanning them . Thanks in advance Genny

Have you tried any of the photography forums:

You may need to register (free) in order to get an answer.
Place them in a bath of warm soapy water for a few minutes and rub them with a sponge very gently. Rinse them in warm water containing a few drop of detergent and leave them to air dry.

Scan the prints before doing anything!! at least if the cleaning ruins them you still have a record!!
