How does a pedometer work? After a very long walk I realised it had only been working for part of it. I checked it more or less half way and it stopped clicking up 300m further on. Where is the best place to put it?

its meant to go on the waistline directly above the crease in your trousers.in my experience they are very hit and miss tho.
These gadgets can be rather unreliable. My husband keeps his clipped onto the belt in his trousers. I normally clip mine straight onto the waistband of my trousers or skirt located between hip and belly button, but I sometimes find if the waistband is allowed to flop open with the top fastening undone, this is enough to prevent it from recording any paces. Also the batteries don't always last terribly long, and if you drop the darned thing it can give up working altogether. Think I'm on my fourth pedometer now.

Thanks to both of you for your answers. Actually, I've been checking it out today and the number of paces is wrong so something's gone wrong somewhere. i don't think I'll bother with another one!!
