Why won't my tumble dryer work?

Today my tumble dryer has suddenly stopped working.

It's not the power supply as the LED indicator light comes on when the switch (mains) is turned on.

Normally I fill the drum, close the door tightly, turn the timer dial to the desired setting and off it goes, but today nothing.

What could be wrong?

The safety cut off switch on the door may be faulty, the one that stops the drum spinning if you open the door. Try opening and shutting the door a few times to see if it's just a sticky switch.
Can you still turn the drum manually, If not it could be your belt.

Thank you both.

After reading Mortartube's answer I was out in the garage (where the tumble dryer is) messing about with the door.

On closer examination of the mechanism of the door catch I noticed part of the catch was bent and after straightening it the part now engages properly and hey presto it came back to life the next time I turned it on.

Thank you Mortartube!

p.s. Thank you also Peapod, but I didn't need to try your suggestion but your help is appreciated.

No problem, but it's a double edged sword. Now it means you'll have to do more laundry to catch up.
