A friend of mine recently sold his i-pod mini to another friend. However, the new owner is having difficulty registering the ipod as hers. Is there some kind of procedure to follow here? Have been on the apple website but can't find any help there...

hmm, are they trying to re-download itunes? i found a way around that once,

err, if she is trying to reregister for it for the warranty, you cant.

yes - it's for tunes - they both know it is well out of warranty
You don't have to register. Just goto the iTunes website, http://www.apple.com/itunes , and untick the check boxes, then click download.

Once installed, plug the mini in and it should sync whatever music you have on iTunes to the mini.

Thanks for this fo3nix. However, we have now got to this stage and the 'sync' option remains greyed out so we can't sync it.... the ipod just doesn't seem to be recognised, any ideas?
With the iPod connected, in the help menu click the iPod diagnostics item. It'll tell you how far it's working, and there's a button you can click there that'll take you to Apple's site and try and sort out the problem.

When I upgraded to iTunes7 on my windows computer I had problems getting my iPod to sync, and I know many others have too.

Thanks again fo3nix. We tried this but had no luck... however we have also now tried to re-register on a 3rd party PC and it worked fine so my friends are going to have a look together to try and sort the problem. Thanks again.
