Hi can anyone sugest a way of stopping my bunny chewing off her bandage from her broken hock bone, i have had it renewed now 4 times and each times she had it off, im worried that shes digesting it and it may cause a blockage in her gut, she had a collar fitted but kept removing it, im very worried please advise me if you can. We had a bird that had a broken leg and we managed to keep a collar on so i would try and put in on again. If you cant get it back on then try asking your vet nurse.Regards.
Get a collar from your vet and she won't be able to chew it anymore. You'll probably need a small cat collar. Some vets will lend them to you, but they aren't expensive anyway. Certainly cheaper than constantly renewing the bandages and worrying. Good luck! :o)
Sorry, missed the bit where you said you got a collar. You might want to try something like bitter lemon spray, which is usually used to stop dogs going after bitches. The bitches hind quarters are sprayed with it . Dogs hate the smell and the taste so stay well away from it. Might work for your bunny as well, but ask the pet shop or vet first, just in case it might be harmfull to bunnies.
