TV Remote Controls have been operated by gorillas ?

In our house all the remote control devices TV, DVD, PVR and Sky + have been pressed by the heavy handed male so now I need to press equally hard to get it to work, really annoying
When they were new they were wonderful. Is there any fix or do I need to buy my own remote controls and keep them locked away ?

It sounds as though the contacts inside the remote have become dirty. If you feel confident enough to dismantle the remote and clean the contacts (use something like lighter fluid, meths, or nail varnish remover), then go ahead. Otherwise take to your local repair shop and ask them to clean it (inside).

But - first and foremost - check that the batteries are not getting low. This is commonest reason for remotes not working.

As reinganum said the contacts will probably need cleaned - i always use Meths. It s the contacts on the back of the rubber keys themselves and the contacts on the circuit board that need wiped - have had this problem on my mobile phone as well and has always cured it.
