Does anyone know how to deliberately shrink clothes in the wash?

I have a great pair of Kenneth Cole trousers whihc are made of a lightweight cavalry twill (somewhere between a denim and chino material). Problem is that I have lost significant amounts of weight since I bought them and now I am in serious danger of looking like an aging skateboarder as the things are inredibly baggy and sit so low down on my hips that they will be pulled off completely if I hade more than 50p in pocket change
I could do with shrinking a couple of inches on the waist (it would be okay to lost say and inch off the inseam as well).
They are a USA cold wash (30 Celcius) - do I just wash them on an 80 wash or someting or do you have to do something clever?

Putting them on a hot wash will probably shrink them a little but remember that they will shrink all over. If the waist shrinks so will the length of the legs !
Your best bet is to go to a good tailors who will alter them for you.
Just send them over here and my partner will see to them, just like he normally does when he "helps" by doing the washing! However, he would probably also have them dyed a different shade, and smelling of washing up liquid (he mixes up his persils at times!!) Be safe - I agree with Rinkytink.
