I settled down last evening to watch Da Vinci Code on dvd - having bought it from Amazon. Each time I put the disc in the dvd player the display kept showing "no disc". I tried another dvd in the player and it worked and I tried the "Da Vinci Code" on another machine and it worked okay on that one. Does anyone have any explanation as to why I cannot get it to play on the main machine in the house?
No that's not me but thanks for the info anyway. I don't often get time to watch DVDs so it is a little irritating when I can't. The disc itself was brand new - delivered on Monday, not pirated or copied at all.. I will try cleaning the laser head, and see if that makes any difference.
This will probably be a dirty laser head. My player wouldn't read discs from the rental shop but would happily read my Friends DVDs until I took it apart and cleaned the head manually with cotton wool bud (and acetone).
You can use a head cleaner disc though!
I doubt it is region or disc problems as you say you have sucessfully tried it elsewhere.
This can also happen if you are playing it on an expensive player.
I have known a disc that I have rented and been full of scratches etc not to play on my best player but put it into my cheapo supermarket player and it plays with no trouble at all.
Why is this?
