I would like to produce a DVD using my mpeg footage - without changing the mpeg format into anything else. In fact I don't want to do anything apart from add some fade-ins/fade outs - some text & possibly background music and titles. Is this possible? I have used software before to do this kind of thing but it always changes the mpeg format into a really inferior quality film. Many thanks!!!

use nero vision express (part of nero 7). it will allow you to edit and add fade ins etc. then convert it to dvd format and dvd quality. Changing the format won't loose any noticable picture quality. alternatively, you can do the same using Sonic dvd software, or similar (Roxio, InterVideo etc.). I don't think there's much free stuff out there that will do a great job easily.
