Further to Miss Zippy's question about electricity costs, what fuels and services have off peak times at a lower price? I can find info on phone services but nothing on fuel. Is it true that electricity is charged at a lower price at night?

i heard that too, about electricity at night been wondering about it.. where's the fire to this smoke? I know they used to have it, that's why night storage heaters were invented..
It's cheaper to use the Dartford Crossing at night in an LGV - 1 instead of 2.90. They don't give receipts so just tell your boss you paid full price :-D
Since no-one else has come up with it....! I believe you have to have a special type of meter, called Economy 7 or something, which provides you with a cheaper rate at night. I think the standing charge is higher, or perhaps the day time price, which means that it is not suitable for everyone, only those who have high night time usage to warrant the extra charge eg storage heaters (which in my opinion are pretty useless anyway!). I guess your electricity supplier can provide details but don't get too excited at this stage!!!
