handwashing bras

I have treated myself to some lovely new bras and would very much like to keep them as nice as possible. I usually use the 30% cycle on my washing machine and line dry them. A friend however handwashes hers and I am thinking of doing the same. It is ages since I have handwashed any thing!! . Having washed the said bras, would it be wise to put them into the machine to spin dry them ? or would I be better off drip drying them? Any advice appreciated.

As the spin is the most 'violent' part of the washing machine cycle it would be pointless to handwash and then spin dry.

I would pat the excess water with a clean towel and line dry.

Ethel, thank you. I might suggest that the spin cycle is not as aggresive as the wash one (with no aggitation), however you are right and they may well not like being pressed to the side of the drum at ??? revs to extract a drop of water. !! Thanks again X

I'd drip dry them. If you live in a flat and don't have an outdoor washing line, lay a broom or a stick of some kind across your bath and let both sides drip over that. In this weather they'll soon dry.

Just about the most common washing machine 'breakdown' is caused by bra wires getting into the innards through the holes in the drum. If you are going to all the bother of handwashing, go the whole hog and dry them on the line, or drip dry like Wendy says.

Ethel, WendyS and sddsddean, thanks for all your advice,
I now have an airer over the bath drying the newly washed bras !!! I didn't know on rinsing whether to add fabric conditioner, so I didn't. Any thoughts on that ? And what do you ladies do with your bras? machine or hand wash?.
