A 20,000 petrol car with CO2 emissions of 145g/km or less, would produce an annual taxable benefit of 3000, upon which basic rate tax would be 660 per year. The figure your friend calculated is perfectly possible, but any change to the list price, emissions figure, fuel type or rate of tax payable can affect the calculation.

He'll probably be hit for Benefit-in-kind tax (at least he would here in Ireland), which would be a lot more. He'd need to contact the income tax office for details
Will also get taxed if fuel is supplied for private use. WIsh my tax was only 660. Got a Volvo S60 and just got new code in. Wow!!!!
