e-Bay - Parcel not arrived.

Hi all.

On Monday my husband posted 3 parcels to 3 seperate addresses to people who won bids on e-Bay. I got a feedback from one yesterday saying it had arrived (one of the bigger, heaviest parcels out of the 3) but last night I receieved a message saying that one of the parcels hadn't arrived and no feedback from the 3rd, so am assuming it hasn't arrived yet either.

What do I do next? I have contacted them back saying I am looking into it and have contacted the Post Office, which I have but only to ask them what happens next.

If this doesn't get sorted, do I pay her all her money back as goodwill? I have receipt of postage, with her address printed on it so I can prove I have posted it.

My husband usually sorts all this out but he was rushed to hospital yesterday and I can't get in to see him, so don't know what to do? heads all over the place. I would be most greatful if someone could tell me what the best thing to do is, or what happens next.

Thanx

firstly, dont panic - sorting out this problem is the least of your worries and should not be a priority. If you email the girl and tell her what has happened, and ask her to wait (if you only posted on monday, i dont think it's unreasonable for her to wait a bit longer to see if it comes)

I have a feeling the onus is on her to sort things out with the post office if things havent arrived, not you. I would guess you coulkd give her the details of proof of posting and let her deal with it from there, after all, it's hardly your fault.

scrub that answer (well the bit about it being her responsibilty) you might find this thread on ebay community useful http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=200306530&tstart=0&mod=1139477675773
The post office don't consider anything 'lost' until 15 working days after posting. That's three weeks .

Do nothing for the moment. If the goods have not arrived after the 15 days, refund in full and claim from Royal Mail. You will be covered for up to 30 at least, depending on the methods of postage that you used.

It is always the sellers responsibility.

Ahh, thanx both of you sooo much! I asked her to let me know if it doesn't arrive today, so if she gets back in contact I will tell her about the 15 days and take it from there. Thank you again I feel a bit better knowing where I stand now.

"It is always the sellers responsibility. "

Why is it, if you have taken all reasonable steps to ensure the post enters the postal system then you can do no more.
wowo, the goods are your responsibility until the seller has them in his/her hands
WoWo - the seller has paid the carrier, not the buyer.

It is the seller who has entered into a contract with the carrier and has all the relevant information to hand to make the claim.

If you bought something by mail order and it didn't arrive, you would not be happy to told - tough, it was sent.

Were they actually 'parcels', or were they first or second class packets?

Only if they were first class is there any reason at all to start panicking - for parcel post and second class post today was the target date of delivery, a target that is usually met but can be missed more often than you would want. If the person was out when they tried to deliver then they will try again and eventually leave a card.

If they have gone astray (and I'd leave it until after the weekend) you can get a claim form at any post office.

Thanx for your reply dzug

The 3 of them were parcels, the smallest one was however sent second class as it was very light (a DVD), it was meant to be First class, husband got it wrong but I only realised today when I found the receipt.

The receipt says they are classed as standard parcel.

Hopefully they turned up today, but still as of yet no feedback from them.

Standard parcels take 3 to 5 working days to arrive, so I am sure you won't have a problem here. Try not to worry, and I hope your husband revovers quickly.
for an extra 80-odd-pence you can get recorded delivery, to ensure the parcels arrive, worth adding the option to your prices

Thanx kags, as of yet he is still the same.

I think in future joko I may be doing as this, I worry about stuff as it is without adding this to it!

Thanx everyone for your replys :o)

I sent a parcel by first class recorded last september.

It took 12 days to arrive, and the Royal Mail said they would not consider it missing until 15 working days had past.

I have sent standard parcels that have arrived next day. Usually three days or so though.

Recorded does not guarantee anything, it just requires a signature on receipt. That is the only difference.
