This may sound like a stupid question, but when you do a dovetail joint with a router, the router bit to do the female side of it is easy enough, but how do you do the male side of it, to slot in?

Thanks in advance : )

Traditional dovetail joints use equal spacing, so you offet the timber by the bit width and cut through, then when the timber is lined up the m/f should engage. I'm not a chippy but this method works for me....
you can buy jigs for this, you clamp both pieces in place and do it all in one go. and they come out absolutely perfect every time
You can buy a jig from www.screwfixdirect.co.uk for much cheapness
