Can this be true? I don't have one but many people have told me they are very energy efficient, and I'm sure some manufacturers claimed that, too

i was confused vy your headline, whenthe article is about slow cooker vs induction hob, but i presume you meant the table at the bottom?

Yes, the table at the bottom.
I have used a halogen oven for years and to me it is cheaper than my main oven. You don’t have to pre heat which I think takes the power in main oven. Also being smaller cooks quicker.

Is it always on whilst cooking, though? My oven turns off once it reaches temperature and is extremely well insulated. Comes back on when necessary to maintain the temperature, such as the door being opened.
yes but thats vs an induction hob which most of us don't have.
I’m very pleased with our new fancy pants microwave which incorporates a fan oven, have rarely used our full oven since getting it.
Won’t be buying any more so called ‘energy efficient’ gadgets for the kitchen.
Question Author
I don't see how it can cook quicker because it is smaller. If food takes x amount of time at a certain temperature the size of the appliance isn't going to alter that.
Question Author
I have an induction hob but my question relates to the table further down the page which gives the cost of using a main oven, halogen oven and air fryer.

Vagus, I have a similar microwave that I use when I can.
It’s a lot quicker to get up to temperature and yes same as main oven it goes off when up to heat then when temp drops comes on again. My air fryer is the same lower temperature than main oven and less cooking time.
There’s only two of us, Barry, so it really works for us. I doubt it would if I was cooking for a houseful all the time (as I think you do).
Sometimes I do a huge cauldron of something so use the big oven but that means I’ll have lots to freeze so makes it worth while.
I tend to use our slow cooker or toaster oven, only put the big oven on for baking, roast dinners or several persons
I had been using my slow cooker, more to batch cook things which I can microwave later. Wouldn't have a cooker with an induction job because I would need to change all my pans. I think my only option will be microwave ready meals. Funny enough just had an email from my energy company wanting me to increase my monthly DD from £142 to £201. Just not sustainable.
