Ok, I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century and decided to buy an Ipad, hopefully on Black Friday. I need a medium sized one so I can at least read the text, not one of the small ones. What model should I get and as I hope to buy on online where are the best sites to get one. Also is there an IPad guide book for dummies or something similar, I'm gonna need help!!!
Any advice grateful
Apple iPads come in two sizes as Gromit has said - 7.9" and 9.7"
The larger iPad effectively a 10" tablet - there are many other reputable 10" tablets (Samsung Galaxy is one brand).
Apple iPads are very good - but very expensive - and tend not to be significantly discounted (except for old or obsolete models). Be very, very careful about "cheap apple ipad" offers - if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
Whilst I agree with Gromit in general about the larger the storage (64Gb) the better I have found that a lot of people don't use it, unless you are going to load a lot of music or video then it's an expense for no purpose. My wife is perfectly happy with a 16Gb iPhone & iPad whereas I have 64Gb versions of both as I store movies on mine.
I know several people who bought the 16Gb version because it was cheaper and because they were not expecting to store a lot on their iPad.
Then they started to shoot video and download films and TV and they were quickly full. The two new iPad models come in 16Gb, 64Gb and 128Gb. If you can afford to, go for the middle option, because you will probably use it more than you think you will.
do you have any other apple products? If not, they have a different operating system, and aren't like Windows PCs/Laptops, and can be quite tricky to get used to. Mind you, same could be said about bloody windows 8
Please please please get a carrying case or some form of protection. I speak as someone who regularly has to pull small glass splinters out of my fingers - its till works fine though - and I would be lost without it
iOS (on iPad) is different than the Mac Operating System.
But the Wimdows and Android tablets have different operating systems than their desktop equivalents also.
As Gromit suggests go for the Middle memory size you will need it eventually. If you buy one buy it from Apple then you get the benefits of using an Apple Store should anything go wrong or you need help using it. There is an user guide already downloaded on the new ones. They are so easy to use.
