i have just inherited a 22ct gold wedding ring. it isn't very thick, weighs about 4 grams. i want to have it reworked into a new ring but would like it to be a little heavier. i dont especially want to pay the price of any more 22ct gold and wonder if it possible to have it combined with whatever metal is used in 18ct gold and have it remade into an 18ct ring. it will wear better anyway but am not sure if this is allowed.

I had two 22ct gold wedding rings, both very heavy ones, and had them both made into one. You always lose a little bit of the weight anyway and it isn't possible to combine different carats. Sorry. Hope you find a solution.
