Don't forget, of course, that around 10% of household bills go directly to fund "Green" projects. This is in the form of tax but is hidden because the government would not like to see "+10% Green Tax" on the bottom of each bill as well as the already outrageous VAT at 5%. The Green Tax goes to fund ludicrous projects, mainly windfarms (contribution to total...

Makes me more pleased that ever that I signed up for a price freeze deal a few months back, they won't change my prices until next Spring.
This the second company to do so - they will all follow .

Funny how can only manage to work out their price increases in the winter months
//"I know these are difficult times for many customers and totally understand the frustration that so many household costs keep on rising when incomes are not keeping pace," said Ian Peters, managing director of British Gas Residential Energy//

nice to see he feels our pain
forget Labours freeze on prices, it wont happen, they wouldnt be able to do it and the power companies would destroy labour one way or another, so thats just bluster from Littleboybland.

the other thing that isnt going to happen and would make a difference even if only for the short term is if the vast nmajority of consumers all got together and swithced to one of the other companies.

these nearly all foreign owned companies have one majorr priority and that is to their shareholders to maximise profits.

they have a level of profitability that they are used to and have no intention whatsoever of seeing it reduced.

they have one sole aim and that is to get as much money out of your pockets as is legally possible end of, so when they tell yuo in their ads etc how they really want to help you save money and reduce your bills, ask youself this....why on earth would they want to do that !?

thats the last thing they want to do, to say thet they are lying is being kind.

Imagine going into your butchers or whatever and you go to the till and they say "put that back, dont buy that , it will save you money"...yeah right.

or signs up in garages "drive less and you can save by not buying as much petrol" as if
Can anyone find us a film clip where the MPs or the gas companies were assuring us that the LPG tankers from Qatar and the cross country pipeline meant that we were no longer going to be at the mercy of Gazprom et al?

They also like to plead the excuse that we don't have enough storage capacity in this country so that they can buy during the summer and sell it to us at decent prices in the winter.

Did I say decent prices? What a fool I am. No, we're going to squeeze every last ounce of profit out of 'em mwah hah ha hahh
privatise them and we then have a choice of who to buy from and we can get cheap energy

fairies will dance down the bottom of my garden in joy
Re-nationalise ...thats the answer !

We were promised that privatisation would bring down prices, because competition was being introduced....any sign of that after so may years ?
What is the function of Ofgem?
To make sure that the companies can make as much money as they can, as long as they don't actually do anything wrong Sir.prize !
Nationalised companies are always described with word like 'monolithic', 'slow to adapt to change', 'insensitive to customer needs', 'inefficient', 'overstaffed'.

With regard to staff levels, it has always been my contention that splitting them up and having them compete with one another means that they need to recruit sales and marketing staff that weren't needed while nationalised and duplication of this effort across all the companies means that, overall, there are more employees under the privatised setup.

This is good for making a small dent in the unemployment figures but we consumers are having to pay for the privilege of all this competition. It would be nice to have some statistics published, so we can see the difference for ourselves.

We were conned by the Tories during the 80's Hypognosis. They stole industries from us, and then managed to persuade us to buy them back in the forms of shares. They then used the dosh raised mostly to fund lower taxes for the already well off.
Currently with EDF Price Promise fixed tariff to April 2014 = £124 per month for dual fuel.

They have invited me to change fixed tariff to March 2017. That sounds fantastic! But . . . .

= £162 per month for dual fuel.

EDF - Vive la France
That'll be a shock for the Energy Minister who recently condemned the SSE increase and advised people to switch supplier.
The condemnation in itself was a surprise seeing as how the government also backs the right of the energy companies to charge what they like apparently
As soon as Labour announced the energy price freeze if they got in I said that all the energy companies will do is put the prices up beforehand to cover that move. The prices are now going up and proably by more than they would have done to offset any freeze.

Not in any way trying to be clever since this is a simple task, but just to help you out for future usage.

Go to Sky News web site, click on the story, then highlight the www address by pointing to it and then hold down the L/H mouse button and move along the address, it will then be highlighted in blue, then using your R/H mouse button and select copy, then finally in the question box press the R/H button on your mouse and select paste, and press the L/H button.

Hope this helps?
I have a Warm Front account with Eon, where my monthly payments over the year are set at a given amount which I pay by direct debit, this remains the same every month throughout the year, but I have read that this deal will no longer be available due to some EU directive saying that it is now illegal.

Yes and do you remember when North Sea came into being, we were promised that when all the pipe lines had been laid and all our appliances converted to this new gas, we would be getting it practically free.

We seems to be ripped off at every opportunity, but all we do is moan to each other, and then carry on being ripped off yet again.
Heating and lighting in countries such as Britain are very important if not life saving in some instances, and since the politicians are in power to take on board the concerns of those who put them in power, isn't it now time they all worked together regardless of party politics and put pressure on these power companies, and where are the EU in all this?
