Anyone able to help with retuning this tv please. It got unplugged when we redecorated the bedroom and now we cannot get any channels. The status message reads Database empty. And even with the instruction booklet I cannot get it to retune. I'm sure its something simple but me being a technical dinosaur....

Any help greatly appreciated.

Will it work from the 'Set up' instructions rather than the 'Retune'?

No. It goes through the motions from set up but does not store anything.
If your TV is correctly 'going through the motions' (but can't find any channels) it strongly suggests that there's insufficient signal strength. Check that the aerial is properly plugged in, check any connections in the cable and step outside to check that the aerial hasn't become mis-aligned. If you're using a signal booster, check that it's plugged in.

If you need to check the manual, it's here:

Yep, they're all fine. I don't know whether it could be because it's now hooked up to the Sky system from the lounge. Originally it was hooked up to the digital aerial.
You seem to have answered your own question!

Scanning for channels gets the set looking for signals from an aerial that can be received by the built-in TV tuner. If you attach an external device (such as Sky box, Freeview box, DVD recorder, Blu-ray player etc) you're not actually using the set as a TV at all; you're simply using it as a monitor to display the signal from the external device. That requires you to bypass the built-in TV tuner, which is usually achieved via the 'Source' menu.

Thanks. I told you I was a technical dinosaur. Failing that It will need a visit from the tv man!
From "it's now hooked up to the Sky system from the lounge", I assume that you've got some type of Sky equipment plugged into an HDMI or Scart socket on your TV.

First, make sure that device is definitely plugged in and switched on!

Then press the 'Input' button on the TV's remote control. Use the 'Up' and 'Down' arrows (in the central circular bit of the remote control) to go to the relevant source. If you're using a Scart socket it will either be 'AV1' or 'AV2'. For an HDMI connection you obviously need to select 'HDMI'. In the unlikely chance that your external device is connected by 'phono plugs', into separate sockets, you'll need 'Composite'. Once you've highlighted the most likely source, press 'Enter' (in the middle of the circle) within 6 seconds. If you've selected the correct source the output from your external device will now be displayed; if not, press 'Input' again and try a different source.

Sorted Chris. It was the lead from the Skybox not being connected. Thanks for taking the time to help out an idiot!!
