Hi all, my son has a laptop, Acer, Windows 7, we changed the router a few weeks ago and since then it keeps loosing his wifi connection (every twenty minutes or so). Everything else in the house is fine, desktop, laptop, iPad and Sky box.

Has anyone got any idea what the problem is and how to rectify it.

Many thanks for any replies.

Ah, now that I understand, thank ;)
As you have changed your router you may need to contact you ISP and have them check you settings it may have to be reconfigured .They will also test your internet connection as well .

Thanks for you help both of you, it seems the problem could be location related, when my son brings his laptop into the living room he gets no drop in connection at all so something in his room could be interfering, no idea what though.

Or, it could be Skype, he now tells me it happens alot when his chatting to his friends!

I hate technology sometimes.
Do you mean losing ? To be loosing something is to suggest it is too tight.

WR.

Yes I do mean that WR, mistake on my part that I will flog myself for later.
When my wifi signal drops it's because the channel has reverted back to auto. If i change it say to channel 3 i get a stable connection. This of course may not be relevant to you!
We have had the exact same problem, I rang sky yesterday as the only way i could get on line was to turn the router off and on, but only had 15 mins internet at a time, It was a wifi issue not router, I had to put in my ip address in to the web bar, A box came up, I had to put in (admin) Password Is your internet (provider) when your router details come up, go into settings, and then change the channel number to 11 or above, scroll down to apply then log out, I have had no problems today. I hope it helps.

I'll keep an eye on it but seeing as everything else works perfectly it seems a little odd.
