Using Electricity?

If I leave my electric toothbrush charging unit plugged in and switched on at the wall, but without the toothbrush standing on the unit, will it be using any electricity?

Sorry to contradict you Headwreck but I'm fairly sure that it won't use any electricity until the toothbrush is placed in it for charging, I apologise in advance if I'm wrong.

If the plugged in charging unit has a tiny red light then yes electricity is being used.

We're short on sockets and it's plugged into one that's a bit tricky to get to. Would be much easier to leave it permanently on, but being a good Yorkshire lass, I'm determined to look after the pennies. :o)

Ah! No mention of a red light in the question. Sorry Headwreck.
On the other hand the red light will be an led and I think even a careful Yorkshire lass wouldn't mind paying the coppers per year that it would use.

Ah, but I'm not just any Yorkshire lass....I'm a bone idle Yorkshire lass. Brushing one's teeth manually is such hard work. :o)

Yes indeed. I love my electric toothbrush. In fact I keep a spare one just in case something goes wrong. Wouldn't want to go back to manual.

Minimal. Without an output current the other side of the transformer impedance to current is large. But you can tell this as it will get warm.
