I am trying to download pictures from a Canon EOS 300D digital camera but there is a problem with the computer accepting the hardware. I cannot find the hardware installation CD to load on to the computer. Is there an online hardware installation 'page' that I can use.

It works with my Canon Powershot camera but not the EOS one.

Have you got a SD card slot on you pc . if so use that then you dont need the canon CD
Can you not access the camera with Win Explorer?

No dustypuss. It's a very old laptop.

I think that's what I'm asking you Howard. I don't know what to do to find it. Shall I just type it into Google?
I assume you have the correct cable to connect camera to PC.

Once you have done that open Win Explorer(not Internet Explorer).
Click on 'My Computer' or whatever you have.
The camera 'should' then show as an external storage device.
You can then move images by copy & paste or drag & drop
I have a Canon EOS 300D. I cannot download images to a computer using the connector cable - you need to install the software from the supplied disc to do so.
Incidentally, it uses a CF card, not SD.

Lots of software options to download in the above link.
It might be worth investing in one of these.

guess how much. :-)

I have looked on the Canon pages, daffy but cannot find The EOS digital solutions software download. Perhaps I'm being thick!
Question Author
Dustypuss, will that work for CF cards?
You can get a card reader, not necessarily that one, to read CF cards, the pictures will also download faster. Canon insist that you have the original CD and then the software will update itself.

Do you think we need to get a new CD from Canon?

I have never had problem downloading before, so at some stage I must have downloaded the original CD. Where do I look for it on my laptop?
Is there anything here that helps?

Thanks D97, I've looked on there and can't find anything relevant to downoad. I'l ring them tomorrow I think.

Is there somewhere on my computer where I can look to see if I've already dowloaded the software?
Try looking in programmes, it might be there, although if it was I'd have thought it would kick in when you connected the camera, I'm no expert though.
programs

Thank you., I'll have a look. I don't understand why it's always worked before.
You want to be looking for a programme called Zoombrowser as that was what I had with my 300D
